RSFS Davidson bursaries

We currently offer two bursaries.  Both are to support those who are changing career into forestry.

The RSFS Davidson Bursary for SRUC Barony campus is aimed at those students entering the Advanced Certificate in Forestry.  The student will already have a Certificate in Forestry or appropriate experience in other employment sectors and wish to progress to the next level.

The RSFS Davidson Bursary at UHI will be awarded to a Year 3 student and covers years 3 and 4 of their BSc degree.

The award of the bursary is competitive and will be managed by RSFS. These are the first awards to be made annually from the newly-established RSFS Education Fund created to support its educational activities across the sector

RSFS Academic prizes

The Society awards 3 prizes for academic achievement at UHI each year.

  • The RSFS Buccleuch Silver Slasher was donated to the Society in 1977 and is awarded annually to the top student at craft level (Forestry Certificate);
  • The RSFS Ballogie Cup is awarded to the top student in all years at Supervisory Grade (best HND course performance);
  • The RSFS Anderson Quach is awarded to the best student in the Silvicultural Systems unit of the HND course.

Our prizes are undergoing a review at present.  We have a mix of trophies and cash prizes.
