Donate to Us
The Royal Scottish Forestry Society is a charity that depends on membership fees and donations. We are very grateful for the contributions our student, individual and corporate members make, as well as non-members who choose to donate to our activities.
How your money helps us
It allows us to pay the salary of our staff members who produce our publications and events, run our projects and answer our members’ questions.
It allows us to purchase the equipment, consumables, services, licenses, insurance, and software needed to run the society.
It allows us to reimburse our volunteers for their expenses incurred in putting on our programme of regional field days.
It allows us to provide a number of awards and bursaries for student and early career foresters to support the next generation of forestry professionals, and to subsidise the costs for student membership.
This year you will help us to produce…

Some projects we’re working on...

Wellbeing In Forestry
We are currently working as part of a consortium on improving wellbeing in the forestry sector. Thanks to our income from membership fees, we hope to offer more workshops and resources focused on mental health amongst foresters, and are in the planning stages of designing some events.

Glen Grant Woodland
Thanks to a generous donation from Campari Group, who donated the proceeds of an auctioned bottle of Glen Grant whisky, we are currently creating a small patch of riparian woodland close to the distillery in Rothes. The woodland will be planted in 2026 with a mixture of aspen, birch, hazel, oak, pine and rowan.

Research-led skills workshops
A kind legacy gift for educational activities is helping us design a series of workshops in collaboration with Forest Research to help disseminate the latest research learning to our member practitioners. In the coming year, we are working on topics including climate change planning, forest pests and diseases, and crop protection and deer management.
Legacy donations
Leaving a gift in your will to the RSFS can be a simple, tax effective way to leave behind a legacy to benefit future foresters. The team at RSFS will ensure that your gift, no matter how large or small, will be used to best effect to make the biggest difference in accordance with your wishes.
If you’d like to discuss more about leaving a gift to RSFS in your will, please contact director@rsfs.org.uk
Named donations
If you’d like to make a donation to the RSFS in memory of someone, or create a bursary or award in your name, please get in touch. We’re particularly keen to provide more bursaries to allow students and early career foresters to attend our annual study tour each year. If you think you can help with this, or have an idea for a different project, contact director@rsfs.org.uk.
Corporate donors and sponsors
There are a number of opportunities for organisations to donate to and support RSFS. There are advertising options in our journal and fortnightly bulletin, as well as bespoke opportunities to support a particular aspect of our work. For example, sponsoring an element of our annual study tour, supporting one of our ongoing projects, or providing a named award. It’s a valuable opportunity to raise your brand awareness amongst our member network and connect with your next generation of employees and customers.
